Meta Solutions joins SwePass with open data expertise
As the SwePass project grows, so does the circle of partners contributing their expertise. MetaSolutions is the latest organisation to join, bringing with them years of experience in open data management and a platform already built for the kind of structured, interoperable data that digital product passports demand.
For MetaSolutions, participation in SwePass is a natural extension of work the company has been doing for years. As developers of EntryScape, an open source platform for managing and publishing structured data, questions around sustainability, data sovereignty and interoperability are already central to their everyday work.
The company has long supported public sector organisations in Sweden with open data management, and sees digital product passports as a field where that experience translates directly.
In SwePass, MetaSolutions contributes expertise in information modelling and data specifications, helping to define what a digital product passport should actually contain and how that information should be structured. Through EntryScape, the project gains access to a cloud-based tool and in a collaborative way build and then edit DPP models.
– A shared, interoperable way to express DPP data is where it all starts. Once that foundation is agreed upon, it opens the door to different implementations and new ways of sharing data across organisations, says Eric Hjelmestam, Chief Commercial Officer at MetaSolutions.
One of the key challenges MetaSolutions sees in the current landscape is fragmentation. Different product sectors have developed their own approaches, and aligning these into a common framework is still work in progress. Data models are central to bridging that gap.
Looking ahead, MetaSolutions sees both continuity and new territory. EntryScape Models for building and defining models is already in place. The next step is understanding how organisations will actually use those models in their day-to-day workflows. Here EntryScape may need new functionality to make that process more straightforward.
Through its participation in SwePass, MetaSolutions contributes technical know-how while also gaining a clearer picture of how digital product passports are taking shape across different industries in Sweden.
